RV Care Tips
If you want to be able to use your RV for years to come, and you don’t want to end up being stranded on the side of the road on your next vacation, here are some care and maintenance tips to keep in mind.

Check Fluid Levels. Make sure that you check all of your fluid levels before you go on a trip, and when you get back. Top them off if they aren’t where they are supposed to be.

Check the Tires. Check to make sure that the tread is good. Put a penny in several of the treads. If you can see most of Lincoln’s head, your tires are worn and need to be replaced. Also, make sure the air pressure is good. Check the level of air that should be in the tire. If they’re low, fill them up until they are at the right level.

Check the Brakes. Make sure your brake pads are in good condition. If they are low, have them replaced. The last thing you want is to have your brakes give out on you.

Whether you have one of the Rockwood Mini liteTravel Trailers, or any other type of RV, with these tips, you can ensure your vehicle will stay in great condition for years to come.

Why Everybody Should Visit Barcelona

I am sure that you remember the Olympics in 1992 that took place in Barcelona. I was still a kid back then, but I clearly remember the event.

It is not a secret that hosting the Olympic Games greatly benefits every city that decided to host them. Look at London in 2012. The same applies to Barcelona. The city received the funding it needed and today is a thriving place with thousands of tourist attractions everybody should visit for sure.

When I am going to visit Barcelona, and I am sure that this day is going to happen at some point (my kids are still small and I don’t travel that much at the moment, but I know that it is going to change in the future when they are older), I am going to be so busy in the city and I am not going to miss any precious moment that I have there. I am also going to research Hoteles-Catalonia in advance to know where I am going to stay during this wonderful time.

There are plenty of attractions to visit during a stay In Barcelona. I will write about them in a nutshell here, but I believe that it’s best if you had a chance to visit them and see them for yourself. For example, one of the first things I am going to see is the ever-famous Sagrada Familia. I read somewhere that it took around 100 years to build this fantastic creation and that even today there are some changes that still take place in it. The building was designed by Gaudi, and there are many other buildings in the city that were designed by him and are of absolutely fantastic quality.

I am also going to try flamenco during my stay in Barcelona. I will probably try to dance myself, but seeing a show is also an option I am not going to pass.

Timbales

What do you really know about music in different parts of the world? Personally, when I travel around the world, I like to make myself familiar with the local musical habits of the people who live in particular areas of the world. If you want, you can always Read Full Review here and know what I mean by that. I am sure that you are going to enjoy yourselves immensely while doing that.

Should You Buy a Fifth Wheel?

If you’ve been thinking about buying a fifth wheel but just aren’t sure if it’s right for you, take the following the quiz:

  1. Do you want more living space? Fifth wheels hitch over the rear axle of a truck rather than at the rear bumper so you have much more space than you would with a travel trailer. The Grand Design Solitude line is a great example of how the additional space is used to provide comfort and luxury.
  2. Do you already own a truck? If so, you’re in good shape to tow a fifth wheel. Just make sure to check your truck’s towing capacity so you can choose a fifth wheel your truck can handle. Bonus: you’ve got a separate vehicle to drive once you’ve reached your destination – just unhitch and go.
  3. Are you uncomfortable towing a trailer? Travel trailers are known for requiring a lot of concentration to drive. They tend to sway and tail-wag, which can be extremely disconcerting. Fifth wheels, on the other hand, are extremely stable and driving with one is fairly easy. It’s the perfect solution for those who want a travel trailer but not the hassle that comes with towing one.
  4. Are you going to drive long distances? As mentioned above, fifth wheels handle a lot better than travel trailers. If you’re going to be on the road for long stretches, this is an important consideration.
  5. Do you need more storage space? Let’s face it – there’s really no such thing as traveling light in an RV. Fifth wheels have much more storage space – usually below the bathroom – than the average travel trailer. Models in the Grand Design Reflection line also have a large amount of overhead storage throughout the interior.

If you answered “yes” to at least three of these, you’ll most likely be happy with a fifth wheel.

Traveling and Music

During my travels around the world I’ve met many people who love music. I guess when you visit so many places you get to see many things you normally don’t see. I enjoy traveling, especially if doing so makes me want to buy items such as this midi foot controllers that I already have had my eyes on for a very long time now. I guess it might be the right time to act on this desire and do something about it soon.

Rug Bazaars in Turkey

Turkey has always been and will be one of my favourite holiday destination. It doesn’t even matter whether I might want to spend a summer or winter there: summers are hot, which is something I like, while winters are a lot warmer than where I live. This is why visiting Turkey is such a good option in my case.

One of my preferred places to visit in Istanbul is the Grand Bazaar. I usually drop by there at least once or twice during my stay in Istanbul. The place is like a giant maze that never ends. I read somewhere that the Bazaar has around 4,000 stores located there many of which sell carpets, rugs, jewellery, furniture, spices, etc. I have to admit that I rarely buy anything there due to fact that I don’t like to haggle (you need to like and know to haggle before buying anything on a bazaar, if you don’t you are very likely to overpay), but I enjoy strolling down the streets of the bazaar just looking at things especially the carpets and rugs.

I noticed that many of the rugs I can find in Istanbul look like the rugs it is possible to buy in an online store in the UK. As a matter of fact, these are traditional designs but they look like modern rugs. So if you have just came back from Turkey or any other country that has bazaars, you are likely to find many similar rugs in online stores in your country. The plus is that you are never going to pay more for them than you absolutely have to. This is a big deal for me as I definitely don’t like to overpay for something such as rugs. It might be nice to visit the Grand Bazaar once in a while, but I definitely like to have my shopping done on the Internet.

Malaysian Borneo

Sarawak, located in Malaysian Borneo, is diverse and culturally unlike any other region of Malaysia. From the intriguing colonial base of Kuching, you can can leap into Sarawak’s main attractions: nature and adventure. The list of adventure possibilities is as long as a Sarawak proboscis monkey’s nose, with everything from river kayaking, climbing and hiking through the region’s many forests on offer to get your adrenalin pumping.

We spent the night at the same hostel in Kota Kinabalu and in the morning we were up again for a MASwings flight to Mulu. The only other way to reach this remote area is by river from Miri which takes around 12 hours so this was out of the question for us.

We visited Deer cave that is one of the largest single cave passages in the world-it’s over 2 kilometers long and around 90 meters high and wide. The caves are dark, moist and slippery and by the time you make it to the sunlight you are covered in guano (excrement of cave-dwelling bats).

They are pretty small and fast so before you realize they are under your trousers. The end of the cave path lead to Garden of Eden where a hole in the cave roof lets in a ray of light which allows the rich green vegetation to thrive.

CAMP 5 IN GUNUNG MULU NATIONAL PARK AND CLIMBING THE PINNACLES

Down the river to start the Trail

Down the river to start the Trail

In the morning we were back on the road so to speak. We decided to climb the famous Pinnacles at Mulu. You can organize the track yourself but you’ll need a guide to take you to the top. The Pinnacles consist of a series of 45 meter high, razor-sharp limestone spikes that tower above the surrounding vegetation. All though popular tracks in the park, this is by no means an easy one. We were in a pretty good shape and were dead exhausted after climbing it. The trail is very steep and there are ladders and robes helping you get thru almost vertical areas. Camp 5 is 2-3 hours walk thru jungle terrain and it’s a base camp for anyone attempting to climb the Pinnacles. The Camp provides basic accommodation with cooking facilities.

The accommodation is really simple-there is a thin mattress on the hard wooden floor and a mosquito net. Be aware that unless your tour here is organized you will need enough food and water to last you all your stay here.

Thankfully we were prepared and broad enough food and snacks with us to have a cooked meal every day.

As for the water-you can gather it from the near Melinau River and boil it to make it safe for drinking. The river runs in front of the camp and it provides a great (but freezing cold) swim after a long walk.

Early next morning we were set to go.

The trail to the Pinnacles is 2, 4 kilometers in length and rises 1,200 meters from Camp 5 to the viewpoint. The trek is very difficult and will last anywhere from 5 to 10 hours depending on your fitness level. Considering you depart base camp at around 7 a.m. there is almost completely dark by the time you come back. You have to carry all your water and food supplies.

The track is very dangerous and you encounter quite a few of rain showers on the way so it makes it slippery too. Our group was one of the fastest one and we were back in the camp just before the sunset.

There were still people coming down when we were going to bed. This track is difficult at day, attempting to climb it at night is nothing other than a dead trap! The view from the top? Have to say that for us, it just wasn’t worth the climb, and many other tourists shared our opinion. But once you cool down and forget the exhaustion, you’ll have a great memory to shre with your loved ones:)

From Limbang we took a 30 minutes flight to Miri. As a second largest city in Sarawak and a birthplace of Malaysia’s petroleum industry, this place is a major tourist destination. Miri is also the main getaway for Loagan Bunut National Park, Lambir National Park, Niah National Park and also a great dive spot. While there we spend 3 days mostly recovering from our jungle experience.

We stayed at Treetops Lodge ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g303998-d1171342-Reviews-Treetops_Lodge-Miri_Miri_District_Sarawak.html). This place was really great. At that time we were the only guests staying there and the owner prepared all the food we wanted. After eating mostly rice and water for the past weeks we couldn’t be happier:) The first day we just relaxed and dry our wet clothes and shoes, the second day we went shopping and a third we took a trip to Miri’s more famous neighbor-Brunei.

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

This country is nothing like the rest of Borneo. Thanks to natural gas and petroleum resources the Sultanate of Brunei is extremely rich country and it’s widely shown. Officially Islamic country it has strict rules of conduct-prohibited alcohol and all non halal meat. We mostly just walked around and admire the country’s massive mosques that were just amazing.

Finding the Right Boat Repair Yard

It is a basic fact of life that seawater and nature’s elements will wreak havoc on any ocean going vessel. Metal parts corrode easily in salt water, wind and water damage occurs to motor parts. Regular maintenance and repair are a given for anyone who uses a boat on the ocean. Upkeep and repairs include a wide variety of tasks, from washing salt water off a boat regularly to replacing corroded parts and extensive engine work,

Due to the size of boats normally used on the sea, most owners do not have the space in their home driveways to perform these tasks. This is why many boat owners seek a harbor based repair and storage facility for doing necessary fixes.

A quality facility will have the space available for boat owners to perform routine repair and maintenance tasks. It will have an adequate hydraulic lift available when the boat needs to be in dry dock for boat repair. It will have specialized tools available for rental when needed. These include electrical equipment, hydraulic equipment and mechanic’s tools.

Most importantly, it will have trained and experienced marine mechanics on hand for repairs the boat owner cannot perform. The quality facility will permit the boat owner to perform his or her own work onsite and will provide access and space for doing so. Whether the vessel is an expensive yacht or a small pleasure boat, finding the right repair and storage company lists high on the vessel owner’s priorities.

Staying in Brighton

What is your favourite place to go on holidays in the UK? Well, the country has many great destination to satisfy even the most demanding of tourists, but in my opinion Brighton has a lot to offer in terms of all the attractions as well as the rich nightlife.

new_14

It’s been a while since I last had a chance to visit Brighton. I still remember though how vibrant the place is especially after dark. I only visited Brighton in summer, but I believe that there is lots to do even during wintertime as the nightlife is probably the same no matter when you choose to come to this wonderful place.

Even if you know that you will not want to hit the beach due to the cold weather, staying in a Brighton guest house can prove to be a very enjoyable experience indeed. Not that much can compare to coming back from a walk to the beach and being offered a warm cup of tea upon the arrival. And if you come with your family, you can enjoy the peace and quiet that many guest houses in the area can offer you.

64

If on the other hand you would prefer to stay in one of the many Brighton apartments you are in for a real treat because many apartments in the area are of outstanding quality. Personally, I would choose something close to the town centre as nightlife is something I am after. For this reason, location is of utmost importance to me while visiting Brighton.

If you have any experiences with visiting Brighton at any time of year, feel free to tell me about them. I would be very happy to hear what your favourite club is and what it is that you do for fun while living there.
